Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden
There are five botanical gardens on Oahu. According to our guide book not all botanical gardens were created equal, so we may not visit them all. We decided to start our exploration with the closest one to us, Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden. Ho'omaluhia means To Make Place of Peace and Tranquility. The garden was originally built by the US Army Corps of Engineers to protect Kane'ohe from flooding. The park is divided into several areas, each featuring plants from different part of the world. We walked through several areas before parking ourselves with our books beside the lake.
