Hawaii Rental Market Part 1

After two days we've almost driven around the entire island. We're talking to anybody we can, but we very quickly learned that prospective tenants are on their own here. Craigslist and the newspaper are the primary sources of locating available housing . . . but everything is available now. It almost feels like it would be easier to buy a house, having the benefit of an agent and longer timeline, than to find a rental unit.

We're considering all types of options - suburban, urban, and beach. We're tempted by the town of Kailua, which would be a commute for A, though everyone we've met has said that it's "a beautiful drive". At one apartment we viewed (which, surprisingly, is available in November), we'd be a bike ride away from this:

Tempting!

Today we're viewing properties in town, Honolulu, to get an idea of what different places look like, so we can narrow our search when we return and so we know how much furniture to move.

Weather: High 80s, clear sky in town, and very windy.
