Pu'u Pia and Manoa Falls Trails

One Saturday afternoon we were looking for a new but not very strenuous hike.  We set out for Pu'u Pia trail, which promised impressive views of Honolulu city and harbor and the Ko'olau Range.  The 1.5-mile trail ended up a bit too short and too easy as we ascended on a path covered with tree roots. A bench marked the summit and the turnaround point.

R is having fun on the way back
Since the day was still young and we weren't sufficiently tired from the first effort we decided to hike to nearby Manoa Falls.  This was a second trip to Manoa Falls for R, but the first one for A.  The Manoa Falls trail is considered the second most popular hike in Oahu after Diamond Head.  Only a mile long (each way), the hike followed a stream through a lush rainforest that with a variety of trees and plants.  The trail ended in the 160' falls where we sat on the bench watching and listening to the falling water.
